Geometric Portraits

Poly 3!
Hey everybody I'm back with another blog post, this time about geometric portraits ( A.K.A low poly
portraits! ) For our low poly portraits our faces have to have expression, and in class we were thinking are facial expressions universal? Honestly I some are universal and others not so much. Like the smile, you can always tell someone is happy when their eyes squint, their dimples appear, and their smiling from ear to ear. Same with common emotions like sad, tears rolling down the face, eyes red and their breathing heavily, mad eyes wide open, teeth gritting and eyebrows close together. Yet more complex emotions like confusion, embarrassed, and annoyed are not as universal as the common emotions because there are many different ways to express them. One country may identify disgust different from how other countries identify it because on their own experiences. So in conclusion I think common expressions are universal but complex emotions are not.

Ok at the beginning I mentioned the low poly portraits but never explained them. If you look at the pictures in this post you can see what low poly portraits actually look like. ( I made these ones! ) Your probably wondering how can I make them? I'll show you. First off: Take a picture of your face, make sure your face fills most of the camera space. Next: Upload it to photoshop, Make another layer called background and paint it white. Then use the line tool and outline only the left side of your face. Since you took your picture symetrical we can just use the left side of the face for the right side aswell. After Outlining your face it's time to fill your face with triangles! To help, click view > show > then click grid. Make sure when you are making your triangles they start on a line from the grid and end on a line from the grid. After you finish your triangles click on the first one, hold shift, go to the last line, right click and press "merge layers" ( This will make all your lines into one huge layer. )  When your done with that now you'll color your triangles! Click on your portrait layer and press command J to copy it. Rename your copy "Low Poly." Use the Polygon Lasso tool by Outlining your trianlge ( Clicking at each point ) and click filter, blur, then average. Then repeat the process until all of your triangles are colored. ( Yet instead of clicking filter, blur, average. Just do command F. ) Next use the Polygon Lasso tool to outline your face ( Just how we did in the beggining.) Then Click command J and name it "Right" for this is going to be the right side of your face. Just use the move tool and flip the picture, make sure it goes to your ear and there's no space between your two halves. After, double click on your outline and use a color overlay to turn it white. After that you're done!
Poly 1

There are many differences between Poly 1 and Poly 2. For example in Poly 1 we had to make an outline and then fill out the triangles the same way I told you how in the previous paragraph. In Poly 1 we also made our picture symmetrical so we could take half of our face and use it for the other side. With Poly 2 we didn't use an outline and we colored the triangles a different way. Instead of using Command F we used the eyedropper, selected the color and clicked Alt + Delete. We also kept the background and colored it.

See you guys next week! 🎸😝 Rock on! ➠ πŸ…šπŸ…°πŸ…˜πŸ…›πŸ…”

VERBAL LANDSCAPES

Nature is always impacting my life, in fact nature is having an impact on my life right now.
We breathe nature, eat nature and I'm starting to sound like a hippie. I live on a tropical island ( Kaua'i ) so unlike the big city areas everywhere's like a jungle. I like to go to the beach, watching the sun simmer against the waves. Nature definitely gives me a lot of inspiration, maybe if it's for a drawing, or maybe a song. Nature can also effect my mood. Looking at the glimmering sunrise or set as colors drift across the sky  gives me a feel of hope, creativity, and calms me. When thunder roars I get somewhat scared because it's super loud and comes out of literally nowhere... Going in the ocean and feeling the waves push me makes me feel relaxed and easy-going, and when I jump off a cliff as I go into the water it feels like all my troubles are slipping away. When I go on a hike ( like sleeping giant or hanakapiai ) feeling the mud seep between my shoes, running to the top, gives me a sense of strength. When I get to the top a sense of relief, astonishment, and "woah" because seeing houses turning into tiny ants really makes you think about how small everything actually is, and how in scale to the universe our planet is as small as a piece of sand. Mind blowing, I know. As you can tell nature mainly calms and soothes me, it's a really beautiful and breath-taking thing.

Now our project we have to write a poem about nature with visuals of timelapses and slow-mos.I suggest filming about what you say in your poem, ex: If your talking about the ocean and waves breaking, do a slow-mo of crashing waves.  Also when filming your timelapses should be wide shots and slow-mos should be close-ups. To create timelapses and slow-mos 1st you need a camera ( no duh..) To create a timelapse first go to your selected location. Then set up the camera with an enviromental tripod. ( AKA the ground or a bench ) If you want to do a timelapse of the sky use a slipper or a stick to tilt your camera up so the shot is 1/3s ground and the rest sky. Press record and let the camera film for 5 minutes or more, the longer you film the faster your timelapse will be. After your done import the clip into your editing software. ( iMovie, Final cut...) Place the clip in the timeline and find the option that says something like speed or retime editor. Click "Fast" and choose how fast you want your clip to be. Now your clip that was long and had clouds moving slow, is short and the clouds are moving faster. Time for slow-mos! First set up your close shot, using a environmental tripod. Press record and let your action happen. For example: A wave breaking onto the rocks. Film the wave coming closer, let it splash, and then wash away. After you've got some good shots go home and import the footage onto your editing software. Again, click on "Speed" or "Retime Editor" and this time choose slow instead of fast. Now your action that was really fast is now slow. If you need more help with making time-lapses and slow-mos links are at the bottom of the post!

During this project I've had good times and bad times. On Monday I was absent so I was somewhat behind in uploading my footage and recording my poem. The hardest part for me was deciding the song to play in the back ground because 1. It had to be royality free music, 2. The songs on the website weren't quite nature-y and wasn't exactly what I was looking for. It spent me days and night trying to find the right song that wasn't too annoying, to slow, or to crazy.  My favorite part would have to be filming because I got to go to the beach and enjoy my time.

See you guys next time! :p

For the critique 10 people gave me fours because they think that I exceeded the basics of what is expected to do. 12 people gave me threes because they thought I did what was expected and nothing more. 6 people gave me twos because they thought I did less than what was expected, ( Which I don't agree with) I agree with the people who gave me threes because I definitely did what was required. I also agree with the people who gave me fours because in some parts (Like the text and visuals) I really exceeded. Three people also nominated me for best overall video so thank you for that! :)

Poetic Personal Statement

Whoa, long time no see! I'm a 7th grader now (whaaaatt?!) time goes by really fast doesn't it? Poetry is kinda the new buzz in my classes, we are talking about it in english ( and listening to Hamilton! aka an awesome musical ) we are also focusing on poetry in G.T. as well. Poetry to me is a way to creatively express yourself, you can write about your own personal experiences, historical events, your dreams, basically anything can be written in poetry! Poetry is written in verses not paragraphs, and poetry has more of a free-flow. To me poetry is like a short novel. Basically writing motions, activities, events, and emotions into a rhythmic lines. Poetry is like a second language to me. Poetry is awesome because you can relate to it, write about different points of views, and fit many feeling into 4 small verses.

Everybody has goals, even if your not 100% sure about what they might be, you probably have an idea of something that you want to learn or do. Here's my poetic statement.

Learn to work through the hard things in life.
During you strong and weak moments, smile.
Learn to understand others even if it takes awhile.
To win a couple Oscars,
To travel the world and explore what everywhere has to offer,
and to live a life of joy and excitement.

Basically it's about some of my goals in life and what I want to achieve.

For me it is pretty hard to write poetry with rhyme, if you're lucky there will be a word that fits with exactly what you want to say. Sometimes if I try to rhyme I lose the point of the poem. Or the idea kinda switches around. In my 2, 3, 4, and 5 line of poetry I used the A, B method of rhyming. The A rhymes are smile and awhile, and the B rhymes are Oscars and offer. While writing poetry using rhyme makes it flow more and easy to say. Rhythm in poetry is a key thing to have, it keeps the poem moving and just like rhyme, makes your writing easier to read. I didn't really used a lot of rhythm in my poem, but I did start some lines with the same word to try maintain a beat.

On the bottom is my text layer, sketch layer, then my finished product, enjoy! :P

New year, New post.

Hi guys! I'm back, and now in 7th grade! In our school each grade is color coded and the 7th grade color is black so i'm dying whenever I go outside... but the seventh grade area is nice and shaded, so i'm happy. Summer was really fun this year, a lot happened like starting bandwagon ( It's really fun you should check it out )  and remember in the beginning of the summer I was in a film camp? ( The post before this ) Well me and Gillian's  video 10 things to do instead of being on your phone is going to air on hiki no! I don't know the exact details of when it's going to air because we need to improve the video and work on it to make it better than it ever was. Anyways I'm excited to be in G.T again this year and it's gonna be different helping out all the 6th graders. See you guys in my next blog post! :p

G.T Music Video Finale!

Aloha, Bonjour, Ciao, Salut, Kon'nichiwa, and Hi. Can you believe this is the last blog post of the year! Bye 6th grade then hello 7th grade! Time flies by faster and faster every year right? We also have our last project that is a music video! Since this is our last project of the year, we will be combining everything we learned from G.T and putting into our music video. ( For example: in the beginning were gonna have a cover made with Photoshop.) Finally you probably have been wondering... what song our we doing? Well, me Katy and Alexis are doing Thriller by Micheal Jackson! Our story for our music video is somewhat like the original music video. So there is this girl ( Me ) walking alone in the woods  ( on Friday the 13th! ) She hears creepy noises, and next something comes out of nowhere and scares her, then she gets taken away. Of course then theirs a whole zombie flash mob and plenty of lip-syncs. I'm not gonna go into full detail because I don't wanna spoil the whole thing. Our story matches our lyrics because you see what you hear. For example: Night creatures crawl and the dead start to walk in their masquerade, You see zombies walking everywhere attacking people. It was really fun getting everyone to get in a flash mob, but it was kinda hard 'cause I had to teach them all the moves and help one-by-one. Then we had another member, Christina join our group because the original group didn't work so well. It was somewhat of a challenge to fit her in the video since we already filmed everything, but in the end it worked out.
Usually while watching a music video, the shots change quickly. The same for our music video. Our visuals change very quickly to make sure the viewers stay focused on our video and are always paying attention. We are not fully done editing, but so far my favorite fast edit "montage" is the part where Katy puts her hand over my mouth and then it awkwardly repeats. It's pretty funny to me. Another well-edited fast montage is when we our doing our thriller dance, the hardest part was getting the moves to match exactly with the lyrics. (But I'm pretty good at doing that so we were fine) There's also the part where all the zombie heads turn around with the beat. (We got that idea from the original Thriller video.) We also added different effects to the beat to, So far editing has gone well, we still have to get our cover picture in and finish the ending. Yesterday (Wednesday 5/17/16) our group was having a lot of trouble with the green screen during recess, we were freaking out. Overall I think our editing will be done well and I hope you think so too.

Like I've said before, the music video is our last production of the year so we will be adding everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) we've learned this past year. First off we used photoshop to create our cover image. It said the title in a cool font, a picture of Christina, Katy, Alexis and I. We made the background a creepy forest-setting so it matches our theme. ( Scary-ish ) We filmed a lot of extra scenes so we for sure had something. My dad filmed a lot of the shots that were on the sleeping giant trail because most of our scenes had all of us in it at the same time. He did some camera movement which was great, and he knew how to do the shots we told him to do which made filming easier. We all did some editing, the girls helped picked which shot we should do next, what filter we should use, and if we should do a picture-in-picture edit. Alexis helped with some of the green screen, Katy did the part of the end and added transitions. I did most of the editing because I can edit super-duper fast and efficiently. This video showcased our best work because we had great expression in the clips, our scenes always have changing shots with filters,  slow-mo or fast effect, cool transitions, awesome title page, and fun dance moves! I really loved our music video, and I'm proud to be ending our last 6th grade G.T project on a high note.

this is what we used for our green screen

Hey over here!
P.S bloopers were hilarious! Everyone in it was fine having those clips of them in there.
Here's the links to my teammates blogs! I might post over the summer but don't count on it... See you guys in 7th grade!! o.o

Animated Life Lessons

Welcome back guys! I know that its been three weeks, but we had to focus all on animating... Remember our animated GIFs? Well with that knowledge some teammates and I came together and created an animation! Whew let me tell you animation is hard! In each on of scenes our teammates character traits are showing. For instance Kyla is caring and supporting so she fixes the "problem" between me and Elijah. I'm forgiving and funny so later in our animation I say "Hey lets go play some soccer." (Which you'll understand if you watch it.) and Elijah is kind and understanding, we show that by telling him our side of the story and our point of view. Sometimes in scenes we exaggerate emotions and what peoples reactions could be, like I get mad at Elijah because he "hit" me with a soccer ball. The story exaggerates that by us getting in a mini fight and then storming off after. We exaggerate us getting along by having a fun game of soccer. Finally this animation exaggerates all of our emotions, feelings, and reactions that our characters have.

Every story has some taste of humor, here's ours. Our story isn't based around comedy and don't have any jokes or puns in it. Most of our humor comes from the visuals, because when working with puppet warp things get a little ridiculous. One time I just randomly made Elijah's' leg bend as if it were circle and it looked pretty funny. During class sometimes I catch myself messing around with puppet warp. It's just really entertaining to do ridiculous things with your characters. (And now that everyone is about done with their animating, we go around just laughing at puppet warp.) Anyways during our animation sometimes our bodies bend weirdly and its just impossible not to crack up. For Instance, in scene three I lift my arms up but it bends really funny, and one time Elijah kicks a soccer ball and It flies all funny due to shaky animation... :P but don't worry there is more to our animation than just funny visuals, there's also life lessons. Our main lesson is to imagine what it's like in their shoes, what is their point of view, how do they feel about it, I think you get the point. Sometimes we expect people to feel the same way we do about something, we wouldn't think they would have a different reaction. Yet when they do we misunderstand. Sometimes that can lead to fights and ignoring each other but then you need to forgive, forget, and move on! Another little life lesson is to always support your friends, and try to help each other up, not push them down.

Kyla and Elijah aren't complete strangers to me. In yearbook I did a commercial with Elijah, and sang with Kyla, but Mr. Sanderl said team up with people you've never worked with in G.T. so I thought why not?   I think I chose good teammates because I know them a little bit so I'm not afraid to talk to them, but their not my closest friends so we don't goof around. (Even though in yearbook I work with Mele on all my projects and we get them done...) We worked pretty good, got all of our scenes done with efficiency. Our biggest challenge was probably getting the last couple scenes in there before the deadline, but we didn't have any major problems. Another challenge was keeping photoshop organized and not messing up layers. After a while it gets kinda annoying by adding a new layer with each and every frame. Kyla, Elijah, and I had many good moments during our production time, we all had good ideas, and we all communicated well. I think our best production time was the final stretch a couple of days before the deadline, and we were all fixing, editing, and adding things to the video. Either one at a time or all at once our team would edit and add effects to our video. In the end I was glad that me and my team successfully finished our project, and we earned 1st place for the best animation! I'm proud of our animation and I hope you are to. This is Kaile, and I'll see you in two weeks!

Mini Photo Gallery!

                                                                                                           some photos I took :P

Hey guys Here's some of my favorite (G.T) photos that i've took this past year, Don't mind Mele over there.. It's just random

So far Animation has been HARD our deadline is today so during recess and lunch everyone is rushing into G.T hoping to get their project finished. I finished my first scene ( its not jumpy at all! so im proud.) and for the second scene we are using the picture back-up plan. Well, the 4th period bell is about to ring... bye!

Character Development

Front Animation pic.
The cutout.
What's up guys, if you're not in G.T class here's a quick recap of what we're doing: we are animating ourselves and making more GIF's! ( I'll explain how to make one later. ) I have to describe myself in this paragraph so... here we go. I'm just that kid who's randomly smiling,  I have a theatrical personality, I love the stage! and I can be dramatic in a joking way. To be honest, I can be loud,  but I'm really outgoing, kind, strong, confident, and brave. Usually I'm the one asking the teacher a question that my friends have. Another part of my personality is I like experiencing new things and I can adapt pretty easily to anything. (Ex: Dancing, sports, traveling, singing) and I have a creative personality, I love art, and photo shoots are the best! Being active  is something I just have to do... If  I'm not doing any sports or no after school activities at all then I don't feel good and I get REALLY bored.  I can be helpful, but sometimes I'm REALLY clumsy. I'm kinda a perfectionist too, for example; when I go to sleep it drives me crazy if my pillow isn't straight. ( Even though when I wake up It's crooked and I'm fine with it. ) but the weird thing is sometimes I'm a perfectionist and most of the time I'm not, It just depends on the subject. Sometimes I can get excited or A.K.A Fangirl...  Yet end the end I'm just this adventurous girl who's up for anything.

While animating our characters are going to be exaggerated a LOT! For my character I want to exaggerate my theatrical personality, so you might see me doing big motions and big steps. I also want to have my animation be sleek and smooth,  so you definitely won't be seeing any jumpy movements or me teleporting from one place to another.... unless that's my super power! I'll also be animating some of my clusmy-ness so I might be randomly stumbling or dropping stuff. My character will also be a little funny but somewhat real looking. I really want to animate me flying or doing tricks I can't do in real life so maybe I'll become a ninja...You'll never know! I can create this by frantically rushing and making my character do some wacky stuff.

Now I've been talking a lot about what kind of person I am and what you'll see in my gif, so now I should talk about how to make the actual gif right? First up you'll have to get a buddy and have them take a picture straight in front of you. Our class did it behind the green screen so it will be easier to cut out. Don't take your picture in front of something that blends in with your clothes unless you want a hard time editing. In the picture you should pose with your arms stretched out to the side and your forearms dangling like your about to do the robot. Next upload the picture to photoshop and use the quick selection tool. ( If you have no experience with that tool I linked a video down below 'cause
I know you'd probably watch then read. )  Just select your body and zoom in to make sure you didn't include the background, and if you do just use the minus select tool and cover it out. Now you have a cut out of yourself! Ok so now your gonna crop your picture just till you have a little bit of space above your head and feet. Then open animation, add a couple of frames, use the move tool to move your character. I started off with y Remember each movement equals a frame, so don't make it jumpy.  Next is the puppet warp! Basically click on the tool and click on all joints, then hold down and move it where ever you want. By the way, each time you make a change with puppet warp, you need to do it on different layer or else that change will apply to each frame. ( I suggest labeling the layers under which frame the change was made on ) After  making yourself do some wacky things (or in my case a doing a bell kick ) Ok were almost done, now select all of your entrance frames, copy them, put them at the end and reverse it. Lastly pick any background either that you took or from google, drag it into your work space and expand it to fit the whole frame. So now your character enters does a little dance and exit!
My gif!

Congrats if you actually read all of this. Overall I do like my animation because
its fun to make and you can get pretty creative with it. Make sure to check out the links  I said I'd put down here! Bye! -Kaile

.MOV Film Festival

Hailee and I editing.
Hi everyone! Can't believe this is our last full week then spring break! GT students as you guys know, this week our class is entering the student film festival! While writing our script we had to come up with some keywords that relate to our film, and i'll also tell you how they connect with our audience. So some of our keywords are Courage, Hope, Passion, Support, Risk,  Talent Jealousy, Friendship, and Unique.Starting off with Courage and hope: To perform an do well you need courage and hope for the best.  With courage you can come outside your comfort zone and really start something new. Passion is also what else drives our characters to join the talent show. One of our characters has the passion to sing, yet she is very shy. Although her supporting friend helps her fulfill that passion and to show her talent. We chose risk as a keyword as well because, our supporting character is always taking these risk for her shy friend and they have a really great friendship because of that. Jealousy is what our "villan" character feels when she also wants to win the talent show but knows that our shy girl has a better talent then her. As jealousy drives her to do some crazy-mean things she then realizes that all she needs to do is to be unique creates a friendship with our other two characters. Now do you understand how all of these keywords connect? Ok. On with the next paragraph.

Doing some voice overs.
Our film is called Kaile explores talent. (obviously you can tell what happens in the film) Our movie trailer's main message is to show everyone that they can show their talent. We are trying to show kids not to be scared of people judging them or making fun of them because they may just be jealous. Our goal is to fill kids with Courage and passion. We want people to relate to our characters.  At first Kaile (It feels so weird to use my name even though it's just a character!) So as I was saying our character Kaile first had no courage, she was very insecure and filled with fear. She didn't want to let anyone get to her or hurt her, so she never showed her unique passion for singing. Although Hailee made her learn not to be full of insecurity and to take risk, and taught her to not let anyone get to her. This is the main message we want our viewers to see.

During filming you have the good times and the bad times, now sit back and relax because I'm gonna tell you  all about  it. My team mates are Hailee and Tierra, Filming and TIME was our biggest challenge because we could never find the perfect time to film. Plus I wish we had a little more time. Tierra had practice almost every day, and Hailee and I couldn't film over the weekend. Everyday I was trying to make plans but we could never find a perfect day. Then we were on our last day before we have to turn it in. Finally we could all film, so at the kamalani playground stage I got there a little early and started to set up. Then my team mates came and we could finally film! We had a lot of fun filming. Yet we still needed to edit and this was due in our first period. Although lucky I'm in the kms news cast! (Go check it out on Vimeo KMS )  So I got dropped off really early and finished editing the rest of the movie trailer while running through our practices. Overall I think we did a good job and our movie turned out great, but time got us.

So guys, Spring break is this week! I know that I'm gonna be going to the beach 24/7.
See you guys in Quarter 4!

Spherical Worlds

Sphere 2
Hey people of the world, i'm back from a weekend of essays, math homework and hiking. This week in my GT class we're making tiny planets, and it all starts with composite images, Composite images are taking more then one photo and then digitally putting them together, but what's the point? I'll tell you. The reason why people composite photos is to expand the limitations of a camera.  So you can see beyond the camera. For having much more content and more detail in your photo. If you've read my last post your probably thinking: isn't this the same thing as photomontages? No, their not, in joiners (aka photomontages) you take many photos of one thing and overlap each other to create a abstract/new view of it. Composite images are not very abstract and are only digitally made, but a good example is the pano on your iPhone. Don't they make a nice photo? That's why composite images are important.
Polar 2

Ok, enough ranting about composite images, now we can talk about our little worlds! So, we're actually making two. One is called Polar, and the other is called Spherical, and here's the difference between the two. Polars are like a tiny planet with a background or sky around it.  Sphericals are more like a crystal ball with a pinch in the middle. Plus they have a white background, it kinda looks like your seeing the future or a dream. When I see a polar I feel like I can go out and grab it. With Sphericals everything inside is in a somewhat loop, their bending into a circle. Although with Polar it's bending outside, and things such as trees are popping out.  Polar has its sky on the outside, but spherical has the sky on the inside. Basically the major difference between Polar and Spherical is that Polar is bended outwards, and Spherical is bended inwards.

Whew, that took awhile... especially watching the super bowl all day. (Broncos won! Halftime was the best part btw) Obviously our "tiny worlds" are photoshopped are heavily edited, but how
are they realistic enough to make you believe it could be real? I think what makes them look real is
Sphere 1
Polar 1
blending them with the stamp tools, Using normal-ish effects. Also making sure your horizon line is exactly in the middle, because if your horizon line is on the bottom your planet will be teenie-tiny, and if the horizon line is at the top your planet will be ridiulousy huge like Jupiter! I'll have my G.T photos up very soon....See you guys next week!

Hockney Style Joiners

Hey guys! This week in G.T class were learning how to make images David Hockney's way. An example of one of his photos called the desk on the side. I'll link the source down below.( This technique is also called joiners/photomontages.) Basically taking different pictures of the same object in different angles and perspectives. Then you edit all of them into one cut up photo. In the end it looks really cool but can look a little confusing. So this week i'm supposed to tell you how my photomontages are different from David Hockneys. Davids is more abstract and taken at many different angles. he takes about all of the ways you could look at the object and puts it into one. That's what really makes it eye catching because you've never seen this before. Since i'm just a beginner my photomontages are pretty basic they just look really cut up. I want to try taking the photos at different times and at different perspectives so it's more abstract. Hopefully I can improve so my photomontages can be as good as his.

Most of you guys have an Instagram.....(kaile_smiley ;D ) Or if you don't at least a google plus, and if you don't have any social media then you have probably seen photos on google images. Every photo has a message, a strong one, helpful, sad, or positive. Some are abstract some aren't. Most of my photos I like to send a bright positive message, but how can you tell? Think of the mood in the photo... Is it gray and not very vibrant? Maybe a sad or mysterious message. Do the colors pop, bright lighting and adventurous setting? Maybe they're trying to send a motivational message. Everything in the photo counts. Even what you take a photo of. Most of the time I see positive pictures on Instagram, people posting about their recent activities, hanging out with friends, or just being motivational. Yet sometimes I also see negative photos. Dark, blurry photos of people staring at the camera, or just the reflection of a flash in the mirror. I know it doesn't sound negative but if you think about it, it could be. Usually the caption gives it away. ((Emojis)) Sometimes there is very explicit negative photos. People killing each other, or bombs or things that shouldn't even exist. Never send bad photos to people, it could really hurt them. Anywho, I think it's time to move on.

At last, time for that final paragraph to talk about my final photo montage. Photo montages are really confusing but really abstract and cool. For my photo montage I took a picture of a fruit stand that's by my street. I definitely took too much photos. ( 146 ) I want to send a positive, healthy, motivational, and inspiring you to become more healthy by eating fruit.
The one of on the right is of Andrew is my school photo. (Sorry that your head is wayyyy bigger than the rest of you.) This is also showing that I like to keep a healthy life style and how important it is to be healthy. I also wanted to tell you that I REALLY like fruits and vegetables... they may be even better than meat! I want this photo to inspire you to think twice about what's in your food that your eating and to (possibly) not eat it anymore! I know it can be a huge struggle... (Especially when you need that ice cream! ) Although you will definitely feel better. I hope you guys like my photo montage and get that message! That's all for now see you in my next blog post!

2016 Aspirations

Hey Internet peeps...It's been awhile. Here's a quick update on how my winter break went. I definitely had the MERRIEST Christmas spent with my family. (We spent most of the day setting up the trampoline!) For New years I was lucky enough to go up in Kokee for Four days with my good friend Mele, yet we didn't get to pop big fireworks. (Only morning glories!) My Vans turned muddy brown in just one day, we went on a bunch of hikes and got amazing photos. Like the Alaka'i Boardwalk Trail, which was 7-8 miles. From the ending lookout we could see Hanalei bay! While we were heading back it was golden hour so our pictures turned out gourges! The last couple days of break were spent with family going snorkeling and seeing the spouting horn. Check out my Instagram to see the photos... @kaile_smiley! So that's my break...How was yours? Comment down below!

As many of you know, a new year comes with new year's resolutions so here's some of mine. For 2016 I really want to become more flexible. To attain that every day before school I stretch my legs, back, arms, and sometimes neck. Being flexible is better because you can be less at risk of hurting yourself and I could finally do (really high) kicks! (I know its kinda sad..I can't do one :( ...) I also want to cut out about all the junk food in my life, and start eating more vegetables. GMO isn't very good for you and eating fruits and healthy foods tastes and feels better! It will be a little bit of a challenge because sometimes I just need that ice cream! (But cookies are wayyyyy better!) Another goal of mine is to pursue my acting career. To help that i'm doing tap dancing with Ms. Carol at island school. The more dancing styles I know the more roles or opportunities are open to me. Plus when I grow up I want to become an actress! This year I really want to travel to Paris and visit my grandma. It's a very lovely city and just imagine all the photos! I would be able to experience something very different from kauai, the city, the lights, their style of life! This would be my second time traveling out of my home country. (Technically my first because the first time I was very young) The plane trip would be long but exciting, travling over two oceans and going into a french airport excites me! Overall I want to travel more, and the best part is I would get to spend it with my grandma. Last but certainly not least, I want to become a better photographer. Photography is really inspiring to me and everywhere I go i'm starting to think "Woah that would be a great photo" "Just imagine it at this angle!" "The lighting here is perfect!" It really unlocks my imagination and I get to think freely. I would really love to get an upgrade and purchase a professional camera. Capturing life's moments in a unique way is what I hope to improve on. While also wracking my brain to think creatively.

Woah that was a super-long paragraph.... Can we have some applause? (Insert Applause sound effect)
Ok, lets move on. All of my goals are very important to me, that's why I chose them! Yet the (somewhat) evil Mr. Sanderl is making me choose one. (If your reading this than Hi and your not really  evil... :P ) So i'm combining my goals of eating healthy and becoming more flexible together. These goals are very important because they are relative to my health. The healthier you are the longer life you may have! Which means I can pressure all of my goals. A win-win situation right? Being healthier is funner and feels amazing.  Becoming super flexible means that I can also become more fit,  do the splits,  and look like I have flexibility super powers! Maybe one day I will also become vegan... This goal can go on forever because you can always improve. I really want to be able to do flips. ( I can do them in the water but I don't think that counts....) So yeah most important goal: Being healthy and fit

To achieve this goal here's some steps I'll take. 1. Stretching every day for at least 20 minutes, or some days  short and some days long stretches. (Because sometimes I'm busy) (Not really...) (Actually things just take a lot of time...) 2. Eating more Fruit and veggies! Every week when me and my parents go to the farmers market I get a bunch of fruit to last the whole week! (Lilikoi, Bananas!! <3 Apple mountains, Avocado, and more depending on what they have at the market. I'm also thinking of having vegan days where NO meat is allowed. Or if I have to have meat that just vegan meals in between the day. 3. Getting back into swim. Swim team was really healthy for me, It works out my whole body. (While having fun in the water!) So I might join SKA!! ( Swim Kauai Aquatics ) My friend Malia is in the team and so is Asha . 5. Biking more! I started to really get into biking with my dad from the kapaa pool to the end of the kealea trail and back. Biking the the nature and on the dirt trails are really fun and enjoyable. (Except for the fact of bugs flying in my face) Plus waking up early in the morning and biking  feels so energizing! Finally last but definitely not least, 6. Going/Hanging out with friend more. Going to the beach, Kokee,to their house or where ever! I'm putting this in because its Socially healthy. Hanging out with friends is fun, and creates laughing moments. Plus who doesn't love extra adventuring buddies? Ok I think that's enough with my roll of paragraphs so stay tuned to see what other random thing happened in my life! Byeeeee! :P
